Takashi Sorimachi

November 17, 2003 • Film, Profiles

Born in Takashi Noguchi in Japan’s Saitama prefecture 1973, Japanese heartthrob Takashi Sorimachi began his career as a dancer and model. Best known as the hyperkinetic ex-Olympics swimmer in Beach Boys, Sorimachi made his mark starring in hugely successful Japanese TV dramas such as Virgin Road, GTO, Cheap Love and Love Complex. In 1997 Sorimachi launched his singing career and signed with Polygram’s Mercury Music, selling out concerts within a year. Recently Sorimachi is paired with Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau in Johnnie To’s latest actioner Fulltime Killer, a wildly stylized tale of rivalry between world-class assassins. Fulltime Killer marks Sorimachi’s film debut, sure to become another milestone for this talented young man.

Many thanks to Reiko’s Sorimachi Land for invaluable reference materials.
