My Boss My Hero

November 17, 2003 • Film, Reviews

Koreans, well actually all Asian cinema ( HK and Japan) have this thing for triad/gangsters films. In 2001 Korean Cinema kicked off with its comedy/action My Wife is a Gangster. Following that success, was this film My Boss My Hero. Somewhat a comedic and unrealistic plot, a mid gang boss is forced to go back to high school. There he learns that being a high school student is not all cracked up as he thought it would be. The casting is excellent, and the actors all performed very well. Even though it’s a comedy film, the action sequences are quite violent and cool. The last fight sequence is very stylish and almost beautiful. (One thing with Korean cinema, great cinematography.)
